Seed Sowers

We were passing around some seeds in a circle of friends last week, and the friend that I handed them to commented that I had soft hands. Soft hands are good when you work with babies. They need that soft touch. We all need a soft touch in our life.
Jesus had a certain softness about him when he was sowing , preaching, healing , and forgiving. People were so drawn to this man. They hung on his every word, wanting to hear more and more from him. He sowed seeds with his touch, his ability to listen, and his ability to speak just the right words for the moment. The presence of God was within him at all times because he took the time to pray and be with God daily.
Do you want that? Do you want to be a sower of the seed of life? Then take the time to practice the presence of God daily. Read the Word, pray, practice the discipline of self-control, give up that which is not of God, and take on that which is. As Christians, we are called to follow Christ, to grow in holiness, to be like the One that saves us. Not just on Sunday, not just when we feel like it, but always. To follow Jesus is so difficult, it is one of the hardest things to do in this life on Earth, yet it is a life of blessings. Dying to self gives us life in Christ Jesus.

Next time you take communion, think about that. Jesus died so we can live. Can we die to ourselves so others can live? Can we become sowers of the seed?
