Open doors

Parker Palmer writes about closing the way to the past as you move forward. Looking forward takes you out of looking at the wrongs and the mistakes, and instead faces you in the direction where God is taking you. Open doors come into your life when you least expect it. Today a door opened. A door that I was not expecting, but that is when you know that it is God. The path has shifted. But it is still the path...just a new direction. Thanks be to God for newness, fresh trails to blaze, and friends that walk with you.

Henri Nouwen says "The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing...not healing, not curing...that is a friend who cares." May we all have friends like that in our life.
