For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible. Stuart Chase
I was watching an episode of Criminal Minds the other night, and one of the police detectives brought in a psychic to the chagrin of one of the members of the team. He had past experience with a psychic that took them down the wrong road in another case and a child died. He treated this man in a dismissive way through the whole show, but in the end, the psychic was vindicated when he was proven right.
Today, I watched the movie Signs in which a priest questions and loses his faith after his wife is killed in a horrible accident. The priest struggles and walks away from God and prayer and his beliefs until he finds at the end of the movie that indeed there are no coincidences and that all things come together. His child was saved from poisoning because he had asthma, and they were all saved from dying by the last words of his dying wife.
Coming to see that things happen in our life for a reason is hard when we go through extremely hard times, when trauma happens, when injustice happens, when life turns into death and we travel down darkened streets in our spiritual journeys. Yet, it is in going down that we can rise again like the Phoenix. Dying in us, creates new life. Our beliefs are strained, changed, and transformed through this process. This transformation takes time and patience and courage. It is not a journey for those who cannot or will not face who and what they are or where they have been or where they are going. But it is a journey that we all must take if we want to live a life full of gratitude, joy and love. Self-discovery helps us to live an authentic life.
So what is stopping you? What is it in your life that prevents you from living authentically?
Do you have what it takes to look deeply into yourself and see the real you?
Jesus calls it the narrow road and not a lot of people take it. Jesus says that for a reason, because it is the difficult way. So again, what is stopping you? Are you materialistic? Do you have to have things in your life? Or maybe you like fame? or to be noticed? Or maybe you like power? Maybe you just don't have what it takes right now. Life is comfortable and why change it? It will happen some day. You will come to a point in your life where you will be asking questions about yourself and trying to figure out who you are. During that time in your life, may you choose the difficult and not the easy.
May you be so transformed that no proof is necessary. Things do happen in our lives for a reason. There are no coincidences. In the end, we will all find that out.
