Going to the dogs
Sitting by my mom in church today, she remarked that our church is going to the dogs. I laughed as she was literally right in that there were two dogs in church today. One of our families train leader dogs and they are always in church with one dog, but today they had two; a German shepherd mix and a brand new golden retriever puppy. The puppy was the closest to me and I wish I had a camera for a picture at the end of the service. For the puppy was sound asleep on the trainer's lap in the pew. He was completely at peace amidst all of us singing the final hymn around him. There were kids yelling, and toys being dropped, and people moving about, yet the puppy was calm and quiet in loving arms.
Jesus did that in a boat. When all the disciples were awake and yelling about the storm, he was sleeping. No worries for him, just needed sleep. What does that say to those of us who are always moving, talking, doing....those of us who just can't stop.
Peace and calm and a strong dose of quiet is the remedy. Take the time for it. Practice it and it will become a part of you. It will become a time that you will look forward to in this crazy and busy world that we live in.
In your daily prayers, ask for it. We all need it, some of us just don't know it.
My prayer for all of us is that may we all be able to sleep peacefully like that puppy in the loving arms of our Savior named Jesus.
